In April 2025, the IPAS Indonesia Foundation, through the ARUNIKA project, invited various stakeholders such as the police, health agencies, community health centers, legal aid institutions, and the Department of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection. The purpose of this meeting was to promote integrated services for survivors of violence.
Dr. Marcia Soumokil, MPH, Executive Director of the IPAS Indonesia Foundation, stated that the experience of survivors of violence when first accessing healthcare services is crucial as it will influence subsequent processes.
“Why is it important to ensure timely services for survivors? Because it is crucial for medical interventions, such as for sexually transmitted infections, especially HIV prevention. Therefore, it is very important for survivors,” she emphasized.
Yuni Rahayuningtyas, S.KM., M.Kes., Head of the Public Health Division at the Central Java Provincial Health Office, added that healthcare facilities serve as one of the entry points for victims of violence.
“Community health centers (Puskesmas) are expected to have the competence to provide services for victims of violence against women and children (KtPA). Hopefully, we will have more hospitals and community health centers (Puskesmas) equipped for addressing violence against women and children. Furthermore, if they can perform detection, it should also improve the referral process,” she added.
In Central Java, she emphasized, the highest number of violence cases occurred in Semarang City. “Perhaps we should also convey that the more we train people and the more the public knows how to access these services when they become victims, hopefully, the reporting will also become more open,” she asserted.
During this meeting, participants received presentations from speakers including Police Brigadier General Dr.dr. Sumy Hastry Purwanti, Sp.F, DFM, from Karolabdokkes Pusdokkes Polri; Dr. Boge Priyo Nugroho, Sp.FM, Head of the Integrated Service Center at Tarakan Hospital Jakarta; and Raden Rara Ayu Hermawati Sasongko, Director of LBH APIK Semarang.
The speakers emphasized the importance of integrated services so that victims receive services according to their needs and promptly.
