The TAKENUSA project has been implemented since 2023 in East Nusa Tenggara Province, including in East Flores Regency.

A total of service providers, comprising 8 obstetricians and gynecologists, 9 general practitioners, and 123 midwives, have participated in PAC and FP training in 2023-2024. This training is expected to enhance these two services within the TAKENUSA project area.

Following the training, service providers offer both services, including at community health centers (Puskesmas). In East Flores Regency, there are three Puskesmas: Waiwerang, Ile Bura, and Ritaebang. To enhance the quality of services at these Puskesmas, the IPAS Indonesia Foundation, in collaboration with YPPS East Flores, engages the community to collectively advocate for service quality improvement. This initiative is structured as a Feedback Mechanism (MUB).

The MUB process in East Flores was conducted from March to May 2025, involving 106 individuals, comprising 95 women and 11 men. This process encompassed preparation, focused group discussions with community groups and healthcare providers, collaborative meetings to discuss feedback results, development of service quality improvement action plans, and monitoring plans.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://ipasindonesiad.wpenginepowered.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/PXL_20250410_110149088-1024×768-1.jpg” alt=”Participants provided feedback regarding reproductive health services. Furthermore, follow-up examinations with an obstetrician-gynecologist are costly due to expensive transportation,” Kamaria added.

She added that the MUB is not intended for evaluation but rather as a discussion to gather information to improve and strengthen services. “It is beneficial because the MUB process begins with service recipients, who then provide recommendations to service providers. There is also an opportunity for clarification of these recommendations between recipients and providers,” she elaborated.

Martinus Sanga Samon, A.Md.Kep, Head of Waiwerang Community Health Center, stated that this was his first time receiving direct feedback from the community regarding health services. Typically, Puskesmas utilize suggestion boxes to gather public input.

“However, we are also grateful [for this MUB]. We have gained many positive insights. Moving forward, we will address or improve what is lacking at the Puskesmas, particularly concerning service delays and road access to the facility,” he emphasized.

He is also open to continuously improving services, such as encouraging healthcare personnel to be more friendly and prompt in their service delivery.

During the MUB, he acknowledged that not only areas for improvement were discussed, but also appreciation from the community regarding the services they have received.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://ipasindonesiad.wpenginepowered.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/PXL_20250509_105136043-1024×576-1.jpg” alt=”Participants engaged in discussions. He greatly appreciated the community for honestly providing feedback on the services offered by the Puskesmas. “We are very pleased with this, as we cannot assess ourselves; it is better for the community to provide evaluations so that any shortcomings can be rectified,” he emphasized.

He is committed to continuously improving services. “If our services are not yet perceived as satisfactory or beneficial by the community, we are prepared to collectively implement follow-up actions to enhance them. And if they are already good, we will strive to improve them even further,” he concluded.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

The IPAS Indonesia Foundation, through the TAKENUSA project (Joint Commitment for Women’s Health in Nusa Tenggara), promotes the expansion of access to reproductive health, especially quality Post-Abortion Care (PAC) and Family Planning (FP).
