This 4-year project, initiated in collaboration with the Initiative for Access to Health Change Foundation (IPAS) Indonesia, aims to support the efforts of the Provincial Government of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) in reducing the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR).

Overall, the TAKENUSA Project is being implemented in 3 regions: Kupang Regency, South Central Timor Regency, and East Flores Regency. Working together with relevant agencies and primary and secondary healthcare facilities, TAKENUSA aims to strengthen the provision of Comprehensive Post-Abortion Care (PAC) services, increase access to rights-based Family Planning (FP) services, and provide reproductive health information and education tailored to the needs of women and adolescent girls.

Concurrently, TAKENUSA will collaborate with other Non-Governmental Organizations to strengthen community cadres. Ultimately, it is hoped that women and adolescent girls will receive information, education, and skills to utilize quality and reliable reproductive health services. In South Central Timor Regency, the TAKENUSA Project will assist two Community Health Centers, namely Oinlasi Community Health Center and Panite Community Health Center, which serve two districts, South Amanatun District and South Amanuban District, along with four assisted villages.

The Regent of South Central Timor, Egusem Pieter Tahun, in his address, welcomed the TAKENUSA program. “The TAKENUSA Project significantly contributes to reducing maternal and child mortality rates in TTS Regency, especially in the 4 assisted villages: Bena Village, Linamnutu Village, Lanu Village, and Sunu Village,” he stated. He also conveyed that implementing the program requires involving the Social Services Department and the Village Community Empowerment Department (PMD) to ensure sustainability after the IPAS Foundation’s assistance concludes.

Representing IPAS Indonesia Foundation, Dr. Eliza Permatasari, Health System Strengthening Advisor, expressed appreciation to the TTS Regency Government for embracing the TAKENUSA Project. The cross-sectoral working model to be utilized by this project is expected to strengthen existing structures and mechanisms in TTS Regency to address the challenge of reducing MMR, which can then contribute to the quality of a healthy and stunting-free younger generation. She also emphasized that the reproductive health of women and adolescent girls is a shared concern.

“It is crucial to provide comprehensive and complete information and education, tailored to the needs of women and adolescent girls,” she stated. Equally important is working together with the immediate environment, such as families, communities, community leaders, and religious figures, to create an environment that enables women to make the best decisions for their reproductive health.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

On September 18, 2023, the launch of the TAKENUSA Project (Joint Determination for Women’s Health in East Nusa Tenggara) was officially inaugurated in So’e, South Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.
