The IPAS Indonesia Foundation is committed to supporting the Ministry of Health in expanding access to Post-Miscarriage Care (PMC) services. Following its launch in 2021, the IPAS Foundation has collaborated with practitioners and academics to enhance the capacity of healthcare professionals in providing comprehensive and women-centered abortion care services.
On this occasion, the IPAS Foundation is partnering with the Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University (FK Unpad), to organize training for several Teaching Hospitals in Bandung. The training was conducted in phases. The first phase was conducted online through three sessions on July 12, 13, and 14, 2022.<\/p>\n
This remote learning emphasized the latest standards and technologies for providing comprehensive and women-centered PMC. Through this training, it is hoped that the information and knowledge of medical teams and healthcare professionals within FK Unpad\/RSHS and its network hospitals can be refreshed regarding comprehensive women-centered PMC (women-centered care) with the concept of Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC).
FK Unpad\/RSHS has performed vacuum aspiration procedures for the evacuation of retained products of conception in certain obstetric cases; however, it requires refreshment and updated information on abortion care and the latest methods. <\/p>\n
Furthermore, through this training, it is hoped that stigma and discrimination that may arise surrounding miscarriage cases can be identified. This training, facilitated by Prof. Allison Edelman and Nadia Piedrahita, was successfully attended by 63 participants, consisting of midwives, obstetricians and gynecologists, and residents (Specialist Doctor Education Program participants).<\/p>\n
